Girraween Nation Park
Girraween is a national park which sits on the Queensland-New South Wales border near Stanthorpe. The park lies in the Granite Belt and is very popular for its granite landscape and wildflowers
With walks ranging from "Very Easy" to "Very Hard" there is sure to be a trek which matches your enthusiasm. Some tracks are wheelchair friendly.
Broadwater State Forrest
Across the road from Happy Valley Retreat is Breadwater State Forrest.
Tracks range from a family friendly stroll taking about 1 hour 20 minutes to 15km walks.
We have had a number of bird watching groups stay with us (including some from Upsatte New York) and they report there is over 56 different birds seen at Happy Valley Retreat and the neighboring Broadwater State Forrest.
The Stanthorpe to Ballandean bike trail is a marked 34km trail along country roads. Start at the picturesque creekscape in Queensland’s high altitude, cool climate town of Stanthorpe and meander your way through quaint country villages towards Ballandean
Both Giraween Nation Park and the Broadwater State Forrest (across the road) offer Mountain Bike trails.

Stanthorpe Golf Club
This 10 hole, 18 tee course is just minutes away and is a great country course. (5 minutes from Granite Belt Brewery Retreat)
Tenterfield Golf Club
The irrigated, undulating fairways and superb bentgrass greens make this truly the golfer's dream course all year round. Poplars, pinoaks, wattles, gums, deodar pines, ash and fruit trees are particularly picturesque in Autumn and there's time to savour the surrounds because the course is never crowded. Warwick Golf Club
An 18 hole parkland-style golf course. Warwick enjoys cold winters and hot summers with glorious seasonal variations. The climate makes for ideal playing conditions all year round.
